This exhibit will run
from February 1 through February 25, 2012. The exhibit consists of pastel creations
of flowers
and
still lifes. "If
you'll look around, beauty is all around you - even in the simplest
things.”
Michael Janowski was born in Elkhart, Indiana and raised in
Michigan. He moved back to Elkhart 25 years ago and now resides
there with wife, Patricia and four children.
Michael is a self- taught artist with no formal training in art
education but he does hold two college degrees: one in Computer
Science as a systems analyst and the other one in Dental
Laboratory Technology.
Drawing has always been a passion of Michael's and he fell in love
with the pastel medium about 25 years ago when his wife bought him a
complete pastel set. He loves flowers, still life's, and
landscapes. Realistically depicting new textures and rendering fine detail
has always been his creative outlet. “I could sit for hours
upon end painting and not realize the time. For me the most time-consuming
part of the painting process is in the initial composition, not
the painting”. Michael
suggests that If you have never tried using pastel before, you
should give it a try. “You will be hooked forever.”
As a fine artist Michael is always learning new things
about “the wonderful medium” of pastels. He finds that
different lighting, adding a darker tone here or there, or just
taking time off from a painting gives him a fresh new outlook
that he never could have seen before. Michael’s personal
drive stems from the satisfaction he receives when someone is
personally touched inside from viewing one of his pieces.
As well as receiving numerous awards over the years, many businesses,
corporations and private collectors have made an investment in
his artwork.
